Rice Vs. Marshall: Thundering Herd Have Never Won In Texas

Marshall comes into their game with Rice on Saturday with a troubled history in the state of Texas. In three games against Houston and Rice, the Thundering Record have an 0-3 record with a combined score of 133-66.

However, the current players are trying to shrug all that off, as safety Dominick LeGrande told the Huntington Herald-Dispatch:

"You just have to throw that out the window and just play," LeGrande said. "That doesn't mean anything. It's just talk because the game still has to be played. I feel like that puts the wrong thing in guys' heads that are young and don't know how to handle it too well. I just want to feed them the right confidence."

After all, there's only so much those games can tell us about the respective strengths of the 2012 version of those teams. Both Marshall and Rice have 1-2 records, with big losses to a BCS program (West Virginia and UCLA) as well as defeats to strong mid-major programs (Ohio and Louisiana Tech).
