The Texas A&M Aggies hope to pick up their first conference win as a member of the SEC Saturday when they host the Arkansas Razorbacks at Kyle Field. The Aggies enter the game 2-1 on the season, with a pair of blowout wins following a disappointing loss to Florida. Freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel has accumulated 903 yards of total offense and 12 total touchdowns so far this season, a large part of why the A&M offense ranks eleventh in the nation in scoring.
Arkansas, on the other hand, is one of the nation's most disappointing teams. The Razorbacks returned most of the skill position talent from last season's eleven-win squad and was widely considered a dark horse contender for the SEC title. However, head coach Bobby Petrino was fired over the summer and replaced by John L. Smith, and it has only gotten worse for Arkansas since then. After an opening win over Jacksonville State, the Razorbacks lost in overtime to Louisiana-Monroe, then were obliterated by Alabama and dropped a third straight to Rutgers last week. While the return from injury of senior quarterback Tyler Wilson gave the offense a shot in the arm, the defense has been atrocious. Smith admitted this week that his defense was bad at two things: Defending the run and defending the pass.
