College Football Rankings: LSU Drops To No. 3 In Coaches' Poll Despite Win

Despite entering the season as the No. 1 team in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and winning 41-14 over North Texas in their season opener, the LSU Tigers dropped two spots in the rankings after the first week of play.

The defending National Champions, Alabama assumed the top spot after a 41-14 drubbing of Michigan that entered the game as No. 8 in the AP poll. That victory vaulted them ahead of their fellow SEC team, LSU, while the Tigers fell behind the USC Trojans as well.

USC won easily against the Hawaii Warriors, a little bit tougher opponent than North Texas, by a 49-10 score, to assume the No. 2 spot.

The Texas A&M Aggies received votes in the poll, but did not make an appearance, although they didn't play in the opening weekend due to Hurricane Isaac forcing their opener to be postponed.
