Houston Rockets To Sign Former Iona G Scott Machado, According To Report

According to several different sources including InsideHoops, the Houston Rockets are planning to sign former Iona point guard Scott Machado to a contract after watching him do very well for the team in their summer-league games. According to the reports, Machedo will likely sign a three-year contract with the team on Thursday.

The undrafted 22-year-old guard excelled at Iona, putting up the highest average assist number in NCAA last season with 9.9 per game. He put up solid numbers and showed off his great passing game -- part of the reason that he put up so many assists in the college game -- with the Rockets in the summer league, with eight points and 5.6 assists per game.

Machado will be one of many players trying to earn the backup PG spot behind Jeremy Lin on the Rockets roster.
