Champions Bowl Bid By Houston Highest, According To Report

Houston could be part of the rotation to host the new Champions Bowl pitting the Big 12 and SEC champions against each other, as the city has reportedly submitted the highest bid for the game, according to a report tweeted by Mark Blaudschun.

New Orleans, Atlanta, San Antonio and Arlington/Dallas were also reported to be in the mix to host the game, which is set to kick off New Year's Day of 2015.

BCS officials are set to meet later this month to finalize a new 12-year agreement for the new postseason arrangement, and it's not known if the highest bid will necessarily guarantee Houston and Reliant Stadium the game. Blaudschun says Dallas is still the odds-on favorite.

The Champions Bowl is expected to be part of a rotation for the new national semifinals four times during the BCS' new 12-year arrangement.
