The Bearkats took a 20-7 lead at halftime of their season opener against Incarnate Word on Saturday. Sam Houston State didn't exactly look like the team that made a run the FCS title game last season, but the Kats are handling the Cardinals with ease through the first two quarters.
On Timothy Flanders' second rush attempt, the Walter Payton Award hopeful rushed to the left side, got away from the Cardinal defense for a 39-yard touchdown run. Flanders scored another touchdown later in the quarter on an 11-play, 67-yard drive.
Trent Rios caught an 18-yard pass from Zach Rhodes for Incarnate Word's only score of the game.
Flanders is just 11 yards away from Sam Houston's all-time leading rushing record and he's only a junior. Check back with this stream for the game's final score, stats and recap
