Astros Vs. Reds Game Recap: Houston Defeats Cincinnati, 5-1

The Houston Astros defeated the Cincinnati Reds 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Astros took two out of three games from the Reds in the series.

The 44-96 Astros used two key home runs from their offense and 14 strikeouts from their pitching staff to get by the Reds, who still lead the NL Central with an 84-57 record. Matt Dominguez provided the big blow, hitting a three-run homer off of Johnny Cueto in the third inning. Tyler Greene tacked on another homer in the sixth inning -- his 10th on the season.

29-year-old journeyman Edgar Gonzalez won his second game in as many starts with the Astros, allowing just one run on two hits in five innings. He struck out six batters and issued one walk. The bullpen was strong too, as Wesley Wright struck out the side in the sixth, while Mickey Story whiffed four batters in his two innings of work.

The Astros will face the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series starting on Monday in Houston.
