2012 BMW Championship Results: Rory McIlroy Finishes At -20, Wins Tournament

Rory McIlroy won the 2012 BMW Championship on Sunday by finishing at 20-under. He held off Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson, who both finished at 18-under for the tournament.

Mickelson entered play on Sunday tied for the lead with Vijay Singh, but both golfers were unable to keep up with McIlroy, who finished strong on Saturday and kept that momentum rolling into Sunday, shooting a 5-under 67. While Mickelson still played fairly well in completing his day at 2-under, Singh struggled to a 1-over 73 and finished five shots off the lead.

Tiger Woods, who finished in a tie for fourth place with Robert Garrigus, rebounded from a somewhat-mediocre Saturday to shoot 4-under on Sunday. Both golfers completed the tournament at 17-under.

Texas native Bob Estes failed to shoot under-par for the first time during the weekend, as he completed Sunday's round at even-par and finished the tournament in a tie for 37th place at 5-under overall. Fellow Texan Ryan Palmer was 1-over for the third straight day, and completed his work at Crooked Stick at 3-under overall, which put him in a tie for 45th.

McIlroy has won three out of the last five PGA Tour events, and is tops on the 2012 PGA Money List with over $7.8 million in earnings after taking home $1.44 million for winning the BMW Championship.
