Bracketology 2013: Stephen F. Austin projected for low seed

The Lumberjacks will have to win the Southland Conference Tournament if they hope to reach the NCAA Tournament.

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks completed their regular season with an impressive 26-3 record. As they begin preparing for the Southland Conference Tournament, they know that a shot at the NCAA Tournament is on the line.

According to the latest Bracketology from Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation, the Lumberjacks are currently projected for a No. 13 seed in the West Region. They would face Arizona in their opening round matchup. If they pulled the upset, they would face Wisconsin or Iowa State for a chance to advance to the Sweet 16.

Joe Lunardi of ESPN sees a similar fate for Stephen F. Austin. In his latest bracket, the Lumberjacks would play New Mexico as a No. 14 seed out west.

As for the rest of the bracket, the current No. 1 seeds are Duke, Louisville, Indiana and Gonzaga. Most would feel that Duke and Indiana have done enough to cement themselves as top seeds throughout the season, although an early loss in their respective conference tournaments could drop Louisville or Gonzaga down to a No. 2 seed.
