The Rockets will play both legs of a weekend back-to-back on the road, when they face the Bucks and the Cavaliers.

The Houston Rockets will try to build on their brief two-game winning streak this weekend, but will have to do so while playing a tough road back-to-back.

The Rockets will face the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, and then travel to Cleveland on Saturday to play the Cavaliers. Houston has been hot though, as they've won two straight games, as well as seven of their last nine.

The Bucks enter the game at 16-14, and as their record suggests, have been up and down all year. They're currently on a two game losing streak, but possess the scoring punch to give any team a run.

The Cavs are in the midst of a three game losing streak, and have continued to struggle despite the return of Kyrie Irving from injury. At 7-26, they're one of the worst teams in the NBA, and the Rockets have a good shot at the win, even though they'll be on the second night of the back-to-back.

The Bearkats survived a massive comeback effort from Eastern Washington to secure a rematch against North Dakota State down in Frisco, TX, on Jan. 5.

It looked like Sam Houston State was going to coast to a win on Saturday night against Eastern Washington, but a furious rally by the Eagles in the second half erased a 35-0 deficit. However, the Bearkats were able to hold on for a 45-42 win on the road in Cheney, Wash., and clinch their second straight berth in the FCS championship game.

It's only fitting that Sam Houston State gets another crack at the team that beat them in the final last year. North Dakota State beat Georgia Southern, 23-20, at home on Friday night to book a return trip to Frisco. The Bison survived a back-and-forth second half, scoring the winning touchdown on a quarterback draw with three minutes remaining.

The Bearkats and Bison will square off in the FCS championship game on Saturday, Jan. 5, in Frisco, Texas. You can see the whole interactive playoff bracket here, courtesy of the NCAA.

Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was named to the FWAA All-American Team, one of a trio of Aggies to make it on the squad.

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was named an All-American by the Football Writers Association of America on Friday. The Heisman Trophy winner led the Aggies to a 10-2 season in their first season in the SEC, and scored 43 total touchdowns in 12 games.

Manziel was named to the Associated Press All-American First Team earlier this week, as well as the All-SEC First Team. Compounding the magnitude of Manziel's achievements is the fact that he's only a redshirt freshman.

Fellow Heisman finalist Manti Te'o of Notre Dame was also named to the team, as were Texas A&M offensive linemen Luke Joekel and Jake Matthews. The FWAA All-American team is decided by a panel of 12 FWAA members

Texas A&M will take on former Big 12 rivals Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. CT. The Aggies are 4.5 point favorites at most books, which is right where the line opened at.

Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is now a 1/10 favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, leaving Manti Te'o and Collin Klein far in the rearview.

Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel is now a 1/10 favorite to win the 2012 Heisman Trophy, according to Oddsshark.com. Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o is now listed at 7/2, and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein has fallen all the way to 20/1.

If he wins, Manziel would be the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy. It's tough to say that he doesn't deserve it, though. Manziel completed over 68% of his passes and threw for 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while also running for nearly 1200 yards and 19 touchdowns. He guided the Aggies to a 10-2 year, which was significantly better than most expected for their first season in the SEC. Their only two losses came to two top 10 teams in Florida and LSU, and by a combined eight points.

The Aggies will face the Oklahoma Sooners in the Cotton Bowl, revisiting an old rivalry from the Big 12. The game will kickoff at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 4.

The Rockets play their only game of the weekend on Friday night against the New York Knicks, their second game in a three game homestand.

The Houston Rockets have a light weekend schedule, as their only action comes on Friday night when they host the New York Knicks. The Rockets are coming off a 93-89 win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, their first of a three-game homestand over the next week.

The Knicks come into Houston with a 2-2 record in their last four games after starting the season 6-0. The biggest focus of the game will be the matchup of Carmelo Anthony and James Harden, even though the two won't really be guarding each other. The job of guarding Anthony will go to Patrick Patterson and Omer Asik, and will be a team effort. Anthony is fifth in the NBA in scoring at 24.1 points per game (one spot behind Harden's 24.5 ppg), and is doing much more of his scoring down low than previously in his career.

The Aggies will face FCS Sam Houston State this weekend after springing the upset on Alabama. Here's the full SEC schedule, along with other local games of note.

After pulling off maybe the biggest upset of the 2012 season, the Texas A&M Aggies will face Sam Houston State on Saturday afternoon in College Station. The Aggies went into Tuscaloosa and defeated Alabama 29-24 last Saturday, which shook up the national championship picture significantly. This normally would be time for A&M to guard against a letdown, but the Bearkats don't pose much of a threat.

Elsewhere in the SEC, many of the teams are facing a lightweight before their traditional season-ending rivalry games. Missouri probably has the toughest out of conference game, as they host Syracuse. There are only three conference games this week, including LSU's rivalry game against Ole Miss. The Tigers have won two straight over the Rebels, and eight of the last ten.

The Houston Cougars face the Marshall Thundering Herd on the road at 11 a.m. CT.
The Texas Longhorns have the weekend off.

The LSU Tigers' 24-19 win over the Texas A&M Aggies at Kyle Field was filled with a lot of jangled nerves for both sides. SB Nation's LSU blog, And The Valley Shook, was relieved to get out of College Station with a win, but wasn't entirely happy with the team's performance:

Call it an early morning hangover, call it another sloppy road-game effort and (yes and, because all of these things were true and you really can't use the "or" conjunction) call it extremely mystifying play calling, but still, call it a win. LSU is 7-1 at the bye week, with three of the final four games at home. Bring on Bama, because everything is still there to play for. Geaux Tigers.

The play-calling down the stretch for LSU was mystifying, as they potentially made the game much harder for themselves by passing instead of hammering away with the running game:

The offense managed 219 rushing yards and Jeremy Hill again put a game out of reach with a long touchdown run in the fourth quarter. And yet it still managed a ridiculous 29 pass attempts, including five on a drive that should've been a clock-killer. Even with a gift of a pass-interference penalty, the staff refused to feed the running backs when a long, slow drive could've remarkably cut down on the late-game drama.

On the other side, SB Nation's Texas A&M blog, Good Bull Hunting, was also frustrated. They thought the Aggies had LSU on the ropes, and mistakes let the Tigers get out of town with a win:

Turnovers. Four of them. Let's count:

1) A miscommunication by Manziel and Thomas Johnson on a pass pattern

2) Ben Malena fumble in the two minute drill that gave LSU the lead for good before halftime

3) Mike Evans looking at the open field in front of him instead of making sure he caught the ball leading to a tip and interception.

4) Johnny being Brett Favre on a scramble

As good as he's been this year, they think it was a mistake for the coaching staff to put the focus of the gameplan solely on freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel when facing a top-tier defense like LSU's:

Yes, this offense will break SEC records against the Louisiana Tech's of the world, but can they beat a good defense like LSU? They had LSU on the heels until the weight of the offense was put squarely on Johnny's shoulders.

LSU wore down South Carolina to take a 23-21 win in a tight, intense game.

The South Carolina Gamecocks held the lead for much of the game, but it never really felt like they were winning. In the end, they didn't, as the LSU Tigers came back to beat the Gamecocks at home, 23-14. LSU did a poor job of converting yards into points, but a 50-yard touchdown run by freshman running back Jeremy Hill with five minutes left was the dagger for the Tigers.

The LSU front seven bottled up the South Carolina offense all night. Marcus Lattimore rushed for only 33 yards, and quarterback Connor Shaw had very little time to operate. It felt like LSU was wearing down South Carolina for a while, but the big break came when Shaw threw an interception straight to Greg Reid, after it appeared that Ace Sanders fell down while running his route. LSU converted that turnover into a Drew Alleman field goal to take the lead, 16-14. It was a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

South Carolina would make it interesting, though. With two minutes remaining, Shaw hit freshman tight end Jerell Adams over the middle on fourth down for what was originally ruled a touchdown, but marked down inside the one after a review. The Gamecocks would score on the next play, a one-yard pass from Shaw to Bruce Ellington to make it 23-21. The ensuing onside kick went out of bounds, but LSU wasn't able to get a first down to kill the game. South Carolina got the ball back with 41 seconds left, but LSU picked off a Hail Mary to hold on for the win.

Box Score Hero: There weren't a ton of shining stars on offense in this game, but Jeremy Hill was LSU's best player. He put up 123 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and caught one pass for 21 yards.

Rankings Ramifications: South Carolina may fall to the bottom of the top ten, if not out of it completely. LSU came into the game ranked No. 9, and could get back into the top five.

But did they cover? The Tigers were favored by three, so they covered the spread.

What's next?

South Carolina: 10/20, at Florida

LSU: 10/20, at Texas A&M
