The Lamar Cardinals didn't stand much of a chance on Tuesday night in their rematch against the Rice Owls. The Owls scored a season high 17 runs en route to a 17-2 rout of Lamar.
With the win, Rice improved to 19-8 on the season.
Though Rice jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, the game remained close until the fifth inning when the Owls erupted for 10 runs.
Four Owls registered two RBIs, while Michael Ratterree and Michael Fuda knocked in three runs each in the win.
Austin Kubitza picked up the win for the Owls, improving to 2-2 on the year. Kubitza allowed just an unearned run on three hits, walking one and striking out four in five innings of work.
Rice will open a three-game home series against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles starting on Friday,as they look to imrpve on their 19-8 record on the season.
