David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that the Astros are one of many teams that are interested in ex-Braves outfielder Matt Diaz, who was non-tendered last week.
I can’t say this rumor makes any sense to me, given that the Astros seem pleased with Jason Michaels and were searching for a left-handed stick to platoon him with. But Diaz is probably a superior player to Michaels. Diaz never played for the Phillies though, which could be a big problem for his hopes of landing in Houston.
