As per Ken Rosenthal, the Miami Marlins, with their mermaids and manatees, are interested in acquiring Matt Garza (I make him sound like a piece of artwork). Isn't everyone these days? Although you can guess they are probably not too keen on the Chicago Cubs pricetag for the starting pitcher.
↵If Jeff Luhnow is lucky the Astros could hit a team on the rebound. The Blue Jays and Red Sox are two teams that have checked in on Garza, and many others probably have. Matt Dominguez, Chris Coglan, Gaby Sanchez and Jose Ceda are said to be available.
↵Dominguez would fit the bill for third base depth that the Astros organisation just does not have, but his ceiling might be a bit too low. The rest are major-league players and if Luhnow does not like them he could always involve a third team. If it is pitching the Astros want they could ask for a package built around Chris Volstad or Brad Hand, although the latter skipped AAA on his way to the majors last year.
↵A foursome of Josh Johnson (if healthy), Sanchez, Mark Buerhle and Rodriguez would be a mighty fine unit, but whether the Marlins are interested and they are willing to put the pieces on the table to interest the Astros is questionable.
