Astros Can't Get Bats Going In Loss To Braves

The Astros dropped their second straight game, but Houston’s pitching looked strong.

Brett Myers, Ryan Rowland-Smith, Mark Melancon, Jeff Fulchino, Wesley Wright and Gustavo Chacin combined for seven shut out innings. They gave up a combined three hits and one walk.

Brandon Lyon and Pat Urckfitz struggled a little bit; Lyon picked up the loss as he gave up a run and two hits in one inning of work. Urckfitz gave up two runs, three hits and a walk in his sole inning of work.

The Braves seemingly shut down the Astros lineup, as Hunter Pence, Carlos Lee, and Brian Bogusevic collected Houston’s only three hits.

The Braves, lead by Tommy Hanson, pitched nine shutout innings while striking out five and walking one.

Clint Barmes and Bill Hall went hitless in their Astros debuts. They went 0-3 and 0-2, respectively.
