Josh Barfield knocked in a pair and scored a run, while Ryan Howard and Shane Victorino each chipped in with an RBI double. Starting pitcher Cole Hamels was tagged for five runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings of work. The left-hander struck out four and walked one.
Dan Meyer was credited with the victory despite giving up one run, three hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Tyson Brummett recorded the save for getting the final two outs on a double-play ball.
Chris Johnson hit a two-run homer, while Carlos Lee and Jason Michaels added a solo shot for Houston. Fernando Rodriguez took the loss for allowing a run on two hits in the ninth. Nelson Figueroa yielded five runs — four earned — on six hits in a four-inning start.
