Nationals Shut Down Astros Bats, Win 3-1

Viera, FL (Sports Network) – Michael Morse went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, as the Washington Nationals earned a 3-1 win over the Houston Astros in Grapefruit League action.

Danny Espinosa had a pair of hits and a run batted in for the Nationals. Doug Slaten picked up the win for tossing a perfect eighth inning and Drew Storen got the final three outs in the ninth to earn the save.

John Lannan got the starting assignment and allowed one run on two hits, struck out three and walked one over six innings.

Michael Bourn had an RBI single to account for the lone Houston run. Fernando Abad was tagged with the loss for yielding two runs on four hits in the eighth. Wandy Rodriguez allowed one unearned run on three hits and fanned one in a four-inning start.


The Astros will head to Bradenton tomorrow to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
