Astros Spring Training: Rays Thump Astros 11-3

Kissimmee, FL (Sports Network) – Sam Fuld and Stephen Vogt both clubbed two- run homers as the Tampa Bay Rays pounded the Houston Astros, 11-3, in Grapefruit League action.

Sean Rodriguez added a two-run double for the Rays, while starter Wade Davis gave up three runs — one earned - on six hits and struck out five in six plus innings.

Brett Wallace went 2-for-3 with an RBI and J.R. Towles hit a solo home run for Houston. Bud Norris allowed four runs on six hits and struck out seven over four full frames.

Mark Melancon was the lone Houston pitcher to escape the outing without allowing any runs. Fernando Abad was smacked up for three runs in his outing, raising his spring ERA to 11.74.

Rays outfielder Johnny Damon walked four times in the win, three of them issued by Norris. The Astros will take on the Yankees tomorrow as we’re down to the last week of spring training.
