You knew it wouldn't be long after the Manny Ramirez story broke that someone would get on his case for leaving his team out to dry, and this time it came from opinionated ex-Astros player Morgan Ensberg. Ensberg did everything but call Ramirez a complete and utter fraud after Ramirez retired rather than face a 100 game suspension from Major League Baseball for testing positive for a banned substance:
↵↵↵How could you? You coward! You are a fake and a cheat and now you want to retire? No way! You get back out there and you take the pain. You stand in front of the cameras and tell us that you are a fake. Tell us that you only care about money.
↵
Ensberg goes on to chastise Manny a bit further with the perspective of a major leaguer who didn't cheat.
↵Rather than talk about the rather serious charges of steroid abuse, which I'm frankly bored of, I want to make two points here:
↵1) I love the way Ensberg addresses Ramirez as if he has any idea who he is. Or as if Manny Ramirez knows what the internet is, even.
↵2) If the Rays really want a right-handed bat that can barely play defense and has no risk of testing positive for PED's, I hear Carlos Lee is available!
