Brewers Shut Down Astros In Barmes' Debut

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun had a home run and two RBI apiece to lead the Brewers over the Astros, 5-0, to begin a three- game series.

Shaun Marcum (3-1) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six to give the Brewers their sixth win in their last 10 games.

Brett Myers (1-1) went six innings, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while fanning eight in Houston’s third straight loss.


Clint Barmes was 0-4 in his Astros’ debut. Brett Wallace left the game in a collision with Prince Fielder, and is day to day with a hip contusion. The Astros had only two hits in the game besides the two Wallace provided them before leaving.

The Astros will take on the Brewers again tomorrow night from Minute Maid Park. Randy Wolf (3-2, 2.64) will take the mound against Wandy Rodriguez (1-3, 5.40)
