In a very scary collision on Sunday against the Brewers, left fielder Carlos Lee was leveled by Angel Sanchez and was carted off the field. The good news for the Astros is that the injury doesn’t appear to be as serious as it was on the field. According to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart, no rib fractures were found and contusions were the only result of the CT scans. Lee will be considered day-to-day.
Lee will still likely miss tonight’s game in Cincinnati against the Reds. Brian Bogusevic will likely get time in Lee’s absence. Jason Bourgeois is the other Astros outfielder who could see his share of time increase.
Lee had homered before the contusion, but has been off to every bit as slow of a start as the swan dive he took in 2010. He’s currently hitting .204/.248/.360 with three homers and 18 RBI. Lee has about $39 million left on his contract with the Astros and rumors are swirling that the Astros aren’t happy with him.
