Pence Reports Flying This Morning

Hunter Pence may be the biggest name left on the trade market, after Colby Rasmus and Carlos Beltran both got traded on Wednesday. According to mutltiple sources, Houston turned down a trade of Jonathan Singleton, Jarred Cosart and another prospect for Pence. It’s also been rumored (though not confirmed) that Philly would be willing to part with Domonic Brown in a Pence deal.

It also sounds like the last Philly deal Houston reportedly turned down was their best offer and they won’t be sweetening it. That leaves Atlanta as the only suitor left for Pence, which is a little surprising, but may put Houston in a better position down the road. The Braves have a much deeper farm system and have one thing the Phillies do not: high-end pitching prospects. If that’s what Houston wants in return for Pence, a Braves matchup will be the more attractive trade scenario.

Don’t expect this to be over any time soon, however. I see these Pence negotiations going down to the wire and we may not know more until Sunday night.
