The Texans announced yesterday afternoon that they have reached an agreement with former Chargers and Dolphins linebacker Tim Dobbins.
↵Dobbins (6-1, 246) spent last season in Miami, starting six games for the Dolphins while recording 43 tackles (32 solo) and one sack. He was drafted by San Diego in the fifth round out of Iowa State back in 2006, and it's a good sign that Dobbins has some experience playing inside linebacker in the 3-4 defense.
↵He was originally released by the Dolphins to clear salary cap room, and Dobbins spent one year with new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips in San Diego in 2006. He has also appeared in seven postseason games, starting two of them.
↵While this is somewhat of an under-the-radar signing, I still think Dobbins could spell Demeco Ryans and Brian Cushing effectively at inside linebacker. Dobbins should have no problem making the 53-man roster, and I applaud the front office for this solid acquisition.
