Now that fantasy football is over, our national consciousness shifts over to fantasy baseball drafts. Well, maybe not the national consciousness, but a good chunk of the baseball world is starting to think about that very thing.
↵Which is why The Hardball Times is doing things like a mock draft and then analyzing it. Why do that matter to you? We get the first signs of where certain Houston Astros are being drafted. In this particular draft, three Astros were taken.
↵However, none were taken before the 18th round, when Wandy Rodriguez was picked. Two rounds later, Carlos Lee was taken and two rounds after that Bud Norris became the final Astro drafted.
↵No Brett Myers. No Brett Wallace. No Jordan Lyles. No Brian Bogusevic or Jordan Schafer or even Jed Lowrie. It's early still, but I think some of those guys will provide value later in drafts in the future. If Bogey wins a starting job, his power potential is worth a bench spot and Lowrie, if he holds down short, could very well be a Top 15 player at the position.
↵That still may not be enough to get him drafted right now. The Astros are a very bad team still, but you may be to find value later in drafts by picking up their players.
