The Jim Crane era of the Houston Astros officially begins at 6:05 p.m. local time Friday night, when the new-era Houston Astros start fresh against Colorado with a roster featuring 10 players set for their first big league action. One thing still largely intact from 2011 is the rotation, with Opening Day starter Wandy Rodriguez, Bud Norris and J.A. Happ all returning. Former Phillies closer Brett Myers will anchor the bullpen.
It's an overhauled field as well - second baseman Jose Altuve and third baseman Chris Johnson are back, while Carlos Lee moves from left to first. The rest are new names, mostly young, that the new Houston organization hopes will carry this team into its next phase in the American League come 2013.
