Bud Norris continued a solid season by throwing a gem for the Astros on Monday.
Norris gave up five hits over seven scoreless innings as the Astros took Monday's series-opener against the Cubs 8-3.
The long ball was big for the Houston bats. The Astros opened the scoring in the second inning when Jason Casto hit a three-run homer. Castro went 1-for-3 on the night. After a Carlos Lee RBI-single in the third, Chris Johnson hit a three-run homer later in the inning as the Astros broke the game open. Both Lee and Johnson went 2-for-4. Jed Lowrie added a solo bomb in the seventh.
The Cubs finally got on the board in the ninth with three RBI-singles, but it was too little, too late. Enerio Del Rosario gave up the three runs, so Fernando Abad and Wilton Lopez were called on the close out the game.
