Astros Vs. Royals: Houston Holds On For 9-7 Win

Brett Myers gave up five earned runs in the ninth inning, but Xavier Cedeno was able to get the final out and secure a 9-7 win over the Royals on Monday night in Houston.

Kansas City took a 1-0 lead in an RBI-single in the top of the first, but Houston scored two in the bottom frame on a homer from Brian Bixler and a KC throwing error. The Astros led 4-2 heading to the bottom of the eighth, and a five-run frame blew the game open. Brian Bogusevic and Justin Maxwell each homered in the inning. But closing out the game wasn't easy for Houston.

Eight singles and a sac fly brought home five runs in the top of the ninth off Myers. But Xavier Cedeno came in with the bases loaded and two outs and got Mike Moustakas to foul out and end the game.

J.A. Happ gave up two earned runs on four hits over six innings in the start. Maxwell went 2-for-3 with a homer, two walks, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead Houston at the plate.
