Astros Vs. Giants Final Score: Houston Falls 3-2 In Extra Innings

A ninth inning rally goes for naught as the Houston Astros fall 3-2 in 12 innings to the San Francisco Giants. Houston entered the ninth trailing 2-0 but rallied to tie the game and send it to extra innings.

Justin Maxwell's two-out double in the ninth cut the Giants' lead to 2-1. Chris Snyder then struck out but a wild pitch and subsequent throwing error from Hector Sanchez allowed Maxwell to score and tie the game. Sanchez went from goat to hero in the 12th when his walk-off single off of closer Brett Myers gave San Francisco the win.

Maxwell had the only extra base hit and the only RBI for Houston on the night. Sanchez finished 4 for 6 for the Giants and drove in two. Melky Cabrera also finished with two hits on the night.

Jeremy Affeldt gets the win after retiring a single batter in the 12th. Brett Myers takes the loss after he didn't retire a single batter in the 12th giving up three singles. Tim Lincecum delivered a strong performance for the Giants throwing eight shutout innings while allowing five hits and striking out 11.
