The Houston Astros were shut down offensively last night by St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright, and will try to light up the scoreboard a bit more Wednesday night in the second game of the series.
Bud Norris, who was hit hard in his last outing against the Chicago Cubs, will take his 5-10 record and 5.23 ERA to the hill against Kyle Lohse, a 12-game winner for the Cardinals with an ERA of 2.61.
Houston scored eight total runs in last weekend's series sweep at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and last night's dominant performance by Wainwright further prolonged the Astros' offensive woes. However, any victory that interim manager Tony DeFrancesco and the Astros can get in this series could have a hand in determining the National League Wild Care picture, as St. Louis remains in a tight race.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 pm CT and can be seen on Fox Sports Houston.
