The playoffs haven't been in the discussion for the Houston Astros or the New York Mets in a while, but recent form has sunk the two teams even lower. Both the Astros and Mets are coming off of sweeps, with the Astros losing a series to the Cardinals and the Mets failing to win in four games against the Colorado Rockies -- a series where the Mets offense only managed to put up five runs against the worst pitching staff in the NL.

Game one of the upcoming series will pit Jordan Lyles (2-10, 5.37 ERA) of the Astros against Jon Niese (10-6, 3.49 ERA) of the Mets.

Houston swept the Mets the last time the two teams met in late April and early May, taking all three games in an early season series.

The game will be at 7:10 p.m. ET at Citi Field.
