Geith was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 49th round of the 2009 June Amateur Draft and later by the Rays in 2011 in the 39th round. Geith has pitched 54 1/3 innings in 31 games for the Charlotte Stone Grabs.
The Astros are the league's worst team this season and have been trading away players for much of the summer.
