Pirates Vs. Astros Final Score: Pittsburgh Flexes Its Muscles In 8-1 Win

The Pittsburgh Pirates pounded out 18 hits in an 8-1 win over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park on Sunday. Conversely, the Astros managed just four hits.

Houston's offense was led by Scott Moore, who went 3 for 4 with a solo home run. Pinch-hitter Brandon Laird was responsible for the Astros' only other hit. Jordan Lyles took the loss and dropped to 4-12 on the season. Lyles allowed three runs on six hits in four innings. He struck out four.

Josh Harrison led the Pirates with a 4 for 6 day. Jose Tabata went 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Pittsburgh's offense was well balanced, as 10 hitters had at least one hit. Six Pirates had at least two hits.

A.J. Burnett improved to 16-8 with the win. Burnett allowed just one run on four hits in eight innings and struck out a season-high 11.
