The Houston Astros (52-106) take the field on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers (81-77) with a chance to knock Milwaukee out of the 2012 MLB Playoffs. The Astros' 9-5 defeat at the hands of the Brewers, along with a St. Louis loss, kept Milwaukee alive in the playoff hunt for one more game, at least. The Brewers are 27-11 since Aug.19.
Jordan Lyles (4-12, 5.44 ERA) will take the hill for the Astros on Sunday. Houston is just 5-19 in the right-hander's starts, including three losses this season to the Brewers. In those games against Milwaukee, Lyles is 0-2 with a 5.21 ERA.
Mike Fiers (9-9, 3.55 ERA) will take the mound for the Brewers. He has struggled mightily of late, compiling a 8.03 ERA in his last three starts. He did, however, pitch well in his only start against Houston this year, allowing just two runs over six innings in a 13-4 victory.
Milwaukee has won 10 of the last 12 contests in Houston, outscoring the Astros by 36 runs over that time.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. CT from Miller Park.
