Houston, TX (Sports Network) – Adam Brown scored a game-high 23 points as the Houston Cougars defeated the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns 78-65 in a non-conference showdown at Hofheinz Pavilion.
Kirk Van Slyke and Kendrick Washington each contributed 17 points in the win for Houston (4-1).
Louisiana (1-4) was led by Josh Brown’s 16 points. La’Ryan Gary scored 13 points off of the bench in the loss, while Travis Bureau added 10.
Louisiana held a seemingly comfortable 38-26 advantage at the intermission after holding the Cougars to just 33.3 percent shooting from the floor in the opening half.
Houston was able to complete the comeback behind 59.3 percent shooting from field goal range in the second stanza, including six three-pointers.
The Cougars were able to secure the win despite being outscored 36-16 in the paint by Louisiana.
