Islanders Beat Back Furious Cougar Rally, Hold On In Overtime 81-78

After trailing by 12 at halftime, the Houston Cougars went on a furious second-half rally, taking the lead with 3:15 to play. The Islanders were game, however, and took the contest to overtime. The Coogs just ran out of gas late, and couldn’t ever hit the big shot they needed out of a timeout.

The Cougars also had no answer for Texas A&M – Corpus Christi forward Desmond Watt, who had 17 points and 9 rebounds on 7-12 shooting. While Houston didn’t shoot particularly well, they did well enough to win in just about every area…asides from free throw shooting.

The Islanders went 20-29 from the charity stripe, while the Coogs shot just 15 total free throws, making 9. A lot of jump shots last night, and not nearly enough time driving to the basket. Adam Brown led Houston with 19 points.
