Case Keenum Throws Nine TDs For Houston: Fun Stats And Facts!

Houston quarterback Case Keenum up and got bored with Rice last night, throwing nine (9) touchdown passes in a rout of the crosstown Owls. SB Nation's Jason Kirk compiled a host of fun facts over at the college football mothership about Kennum's night. Was it a record? Nope - David Klinger threw 11 against something called an Eastern Washington once. But here's a few items of note that a nine touchdown evening did produce:

  • With nine touchdowns on the night, one not-so-young man's arm surpassed Kent State's touchdown total through seven games. FAU only has nine total touchdowns in seven games. Kentucky and Louisville, BCS conference programs, have just 14 each, more than halfway through their seasons.
  • Keenum now has 139 career touchdowns. The all-time NCAA record is 148, shared by Division II East Stroudsburg's Jimmy Terwilliger and Division III Westminster's Justin Peery. Keenum has five or six games left in what's hopefully his last senior season.

Keenum told reporters after that it was "probably the most fun" he'd ever had playing football. Well, yeah, everybody loves Tecmo Bowl on the easiest setting, Case.

"I told the guys before the game, I kind of like playing in the game. I told the guys to keep playing hard and no matter what, rain, sleet, snow, hail, we got to roll with it"

What with freezing precipitation unlikely in the Houston metro area, it's likely Keenum won't have much in the way to "roll through" in the coming weeks. *Except that whole crooked BCS selection process thing.
