BCS Rankings Week 10 Projections: Houston Expected To Make A Big Jump To No. 12

Houston is expected to be No. 12 when the latest BCS rankings are released, and the No. 12 ranking would be the highest in the history for Houston.

The Houston Cougars had a big win over the Rice Owls where quarterback Case Keenum threw nine touchdown passes and according to the latest BCS projections Houston is set to have another big day. Last week, Houston was ranked No. 17, but this week they are expected to move into the coveted 12 spot for a non-BCS team.

Here are the Week 10 BCS projections:

1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma State
4. Stanford
5. Boise State
6. Oklahoma
7. Oregon
8. Arkansas
9. South Carolina
10. Virginia Tech
11. Nebraska
12. Houston
13. Michigan
14. Kansas State
15. Penn State

This would be the highest BCS ranking ever for Houston and being in the 12 spot is key, because if Boise State does stumble down the way against TCU or even San Diego State it could open up the door for Houston to make a BCS bowl game. To earn an automatic spot, Houston would need to be ranked 12 or higher, win their conference and be the highest ranked non-BCS team. The rest of the schedule is winnable for Houston, so they would need Boise State to lose and not win the Mountain West to secure the automatic bid. Also, by being in the top-14 Houston becomes eligible to be selected as an at-large team.
