Boise State Loss Clears Houston's Path To BCS

Houston's long shot BCS hopes got a huge shot of life on Saturday afternoon, as un-ranked TCU upset Boise State. The loss means that, should Houston win out, they would undoubtedly be the highest ranked non-AQ school, be in the top 16, and be higher than the Big East's top school. That would automatically qualify the Cougars for a berth in a BCS bowl.

Now, suffice it to say, Houston doesn't have an easy path ahead of them to fulfill their end of the bargain. The Cougars face SMU on Saturday, travel to Tulsa on the following Friday, and if they can win both of those games, they will host Southern Miss for the Conference USA championship. Those three potential opponents are better than anybody Houston has played this year, with the possible exception of UCLA.

But it's hard not to get excited. The Cougars are three wins from a BCS bowl bid.

Ya gotta believe.
