The Houston Cougars moved one step closer to earning their first ever BCS berth as they took care of business and defeated the SMU Mustangs 37-7. All Houston needs to do is stay in the top 12 of the BCS standings and win their last game against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, which is not a guarantee, and then go ont to win the Conference USA title game which will be hosted by Houston assuming they get there. If Houston does that they should stay in the top-12 to earn their first ever BCS bowl bid. Houston controls their BCS fate and just need to take care of their own business and they will be in a BCS bowl game.
In the latest BCS projections Houston is expected to move up one spot to No. 10 due to the Clemson Tigers falling to 37-17 to the N.C. State Wolfpack.
