Houston Vs. Tulsa: Conference USA Title Game On The Line

The Houston Cougars continue to climb up the BCS rankings, but they have not clinched anything yet. A berth in the Conference USA title game is not even guaranteed, as they still need to defeat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Friday to clinch the West Division in Conference USA. ESPN's college football blog commented today on the virtual Conference USA semi-final:

Much has been made of Houston this season because the Cougars are putting together such a fantastic year. But what Tulsa has done deserves praise as well. The Golden Hurricane went into the season with a new head coach in Blankenship, after Todd Graham left for Pitt. They also had to deal with the loss of all-purpose superstar Damaris Johnson, arrested just before the start of the season on embezzlement charges.

Houston is currently No. 8 int he BCS standings, and with two more victories they will play in a lucrative CBS bowl as the nation's highest rated non-automatic qualifier. With a little more luck they could even play in the BCS championship game, but that is a longshot at best.
