After a windy first quarter of play in Tulsa, the Golden Hurricanes have a 10-6 lead on the undefeated Houston Cougars.
Both defenses have shown a surprising amount of fight, stopping the high-flying passing attacks helmed by QB's Case Keenum and G.J. Kinne multiple times in the first quarter.
Keenum has been as efficient as ever, completing 13/15 passes for 132 yards and 1 TD, while Kinne has done enough to move his team down the field twice, completing 4/8 passes for 48 yards and 1 TD.
The big difference so far has come in the kicking game, where Tulsa blocked Houston's extra-point try after Keenum completed a 5-yard pass to Patrick Edwards that should have tied the game 7-7.
Kevin Fitzpatrick, the Hurricanes kicker, tied a career-long when he hit a wind-aided 52-yard kick through the uprights with a little over one minute left in the first quarter.
