The Houston Cougars took care of business against the UAB Blazers by winning 56-13 to move to 9-0. Couple that win with losses by the No. 10 Nebraska Cornhuskers who lost to the unranked Northwestern Wildcats as well as the No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks who defeated No. 9 South Carolina Gamecocks, and that will allow Houston to move up in the latest BCS standings.
Houston is projected to move up two places to the No. 11 spot:
1. LSU
2. Oklahoma State
3. Alabama
4. Stanford
5. Boise State
6. Oklahoma
7. Arkansas
8. Oregon
9. Clemson
10. Virginia Tech
11. Houston
12. Penn State
13. Kansas State
14. South Carolina
15. Michigan State
Houston is still trailing the Boise St. Broncos for the automatic BCS berth for the non-automatic qualifying leagues, and will need Boise State to lose to get to their first BCS game. To get an at-large berth, Houston will still need other teams to lose to move up the rankings high to not be ignored. The schedule is an issue but if Houston gets to the C-USA title game they should play the Southern Miss. Golden Eagles who are currently ranked in the BCS top 25.
