The Houston Cougars performed as expected in their 56-13 win over the UAB Blazers and improve to 9-0 on the year. UAB actually scored first on their opening drive with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Perry to Patrick Hearn and the game was actually close into the third quarter as Houston only lead 21-13 with 10 minutes left in the third.
Then the Houston offense came alive and scored 35 unanswered points to easily defeated UAB. Case Keenum had a first this year by scoring two touchdowns on the ground, both one 1-yard sneaks. Keenum also had yet another 400-yard passing game by throwing for 407 yards and had two more touchdowns through the air in only three-plus quarters of play.
For the first time in a while the rushing game actually scored more touchdowns than the passing game. The rushing game was led by Michael Hayes who rushed for 93 yards and a score, and then Charles Sims scored a touchdown and rushed for 71 yards of himself.
Houston now improves to 9-0 and takes on the Tulane Green Wave on Thursday night.
