Cougar Women's Hoops Tops Host UTEP

Just because Houston and Rice are out of the Conference USA tournament doesn't mean that fans of basketball in the city of Houston have nowhere to turn. TSU is alive and well in the SWAC tournament, and the Cougar women's team strung together another impressive win on Thursday evening in El Paso.

First year head coach Todd Buchanan's squad proved its resiliency yet again, scratching out a tough, 68-64 win in front of a raucous crowd supporting the hometown Miners. Even with senior and second-leading scorer Brittney Scott coming up cold, they still found a way to win. Lesslee Mason had a huge double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and two-time C-USA Player of the Year Courtney Taylor contributed her 60th career double-double with 22 points and 10 boards.

UH has won 17 straight games, has already become only the second team in C-USA history to finish the regular season unbeaten, and is ranked #22 in the country. On Friday, they face Tulane in the conference tournament semifinal.
