Bracket Picks: Pittsburgh Panthers Win It All

Normally I would be afraid to post my bracket picks, mainly out of the fear of being laughed at. But since Dustin already came up with his predictions and thus we have someone who actually watches college basketball on a regular basis on the record, I'm more than happy to share my half-assed picks with you.

Yesterday we went over why the Texas Longhorns were a decent pick to win it all. I want to show you this post by Real Clear Sports sidelines documenting every expert's bracket picks that they could find. Remember, as per our Longhorns discussion, when you're in a large tournament pool, you're trying to find a champion that is both plausible and not completely popular. Every single person picked either Ohio State, Kansas, or Duke to win it all. All of them.

While those are all great teams, the odds are still in favor of the field. Thus, I'm tabbing the Pittsburgh Panthers to win it all. They're one of only a few good teams in a bad regional, meaning they could have a cakewalk to the Final Four. Should upsets run rampant against that part of the bracket, they'll have the benefit of studying the tape before they have to face anyone like Belmont that would threaten them. If they don't, the worst they'll have to deal with is probably Wisconsin in the Sweet Sixteen.

My Final Four predictions show Ohio State, Pittsburgh, San Diego State, and Purdue making it to Houston. Pittsburgh knocks off Ohio State in a 55-54 game that people will hate to watch despite a furious finish.

My last prediction? That Duke will win it all to spite us, because that's what my gut instinct is telling me despite going with Pittsburgh to try to win the pools.
