TicketCity Bowl 2012: Houston Dominates Penn State With 17-0 First Quarter

The TicketCity Bowl had the earliest start of all the Jan. 2 bowl games this year, giving the No. 19 Houston Cougars a rare appearance in the national spotlight.

The Cougars wasted no time showing the rest of the country that their 12-0 start to the season was no fluke.

Looking to make up for a disappointing loss to Southern Miss in the Conference USA title game, Houston opened up their offense against Penn State, with Case Keenum attacking the Nittany Lions throughout.

Keenum has already completed 20 of 31 passes for 270 yards and 2 TD's, spreading the ball around to seven different receivers.

The Nittany Lions have been content to sit in zones to prevent the Cougars from making big plays down-field, with Keenum calmly picking apart the Penn State defense.

Houston's defense, meanwhile, has been just as strong, holding the Nittany Lions to only 34 yards of total offense in the first quarter.
