The Houston Cougars are not known for pulling in top rated recruits, but four-star and top-100 wide receiver Deontay Greenberry who is out of Washington Union (Fresno, Calif.) took an official visit to Houston on Friday. Greenberry was named Mr. California by Southern California Preps and set California state single season records for receiving yards with 2,165 yards and 33 touchdown receptions en route to leading his high school team to a state championship with a 14-0 record.
Greenberry currently has been verbally committed to Notre Dame since May of last year, so this could be Greenberry wanting to use up his five official visits because he is also taking a visit to Arizona State on Saturday.
However, the late interest in Houston comes from their wide receivers coach Jamie Christian who was recruiting Greenberry while he was at Arizona State. Even with that, Greenberry has said he is still committed to signing with Notre Dame on signing day which is Wednesday Feb. 1, but until he signs his Letter of Intent nothing is official.
