The 2012 season has not been going as planned for the Houston Cougars, but they finally earned their first win of the season when they defeated the Rice Owls, 35-14.
Now, they are looking to build off of that when they host the North Texas Mean Green Saturday night. North Texas is 2-3 on the year and they are also coming off a win, as they defeated Florida Atlantic, 20-14.
Houston will need big performances from running back Charles Sims who ran the ball 24 times for 158 yards and three touchdowns, including one for 47 yards. He also caught four passes for 47 yards. They will need quarterback David Piland to pick up where he left off last week, when he threw for 361 yards and had a pair of touchdowns.
