The Houston Cougars improved to 2-3 on Saturday, with a 44-21 win over the North Texas Mean Green, in a non-conference game.
Even though it was a much-needed win for the Cougars, the victory means nothing in terms of Houston's place in the Conference USA standings. Houston remains tied for second place in Conference USA's West division with the SMU Mustangs, as both teams are 1-0 in CUSA play.
Houston's lone CUSA win this year came on Sept. 29, when the Cougars defeated the Owls, 35-14.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane currently lead the Conference USA West division with a 3-0 CUSA record. Tulsa is 5-1 on the year, and is riding a five-game winning streak.
Houston will look to improve to 2-0 in conference on Saturday, when it hosts UAB.
