The Houston Cougars fell to 4-6 on the year and 3-3 in Conference USA play with a loss to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Saturday, and a win by Southern Methodist puts Houston one full game behind SMU second-place. Meanwhile, SMU beat conference bottom-dweller Southern Miss 34-6 to move to 4-2 in conference play.

Tulsa remained perfect in conference play through six games and moved to 8-2 overall.

The Rice Owls were off on a bye this weekend and are like Tulane with 2-4 C-USA records. Rice, however, has a better overall record. UTEP holds the final spot in the West Division with a 1-5 conference mark.

Over in the East Division, Central Florida is 6-0 in conference play and 8-2 overall. Eastern Carolina is still on the heels of first place at 5-1 in C-USA.
