Tulane vs. Houston 2012 final score: Cougars start and finish strong against Green Wave, 40-17

The Houston defense forced four interceptions of Tulane's Ryan Griffin.

Although 2012 was a disappointing year for the Houston Cougars, the team finished the season on a high note with a 40-17 domination of the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday.

It took Houston just 51 seconds to take the lead and the team never looked back, outscoring Tulane 17-0 in the first quarter. While the Green Wave cut the lead to 10 and kept that margin through the next two quarters, Houston finished the game as it started, winning the fourth quarter 13-0.

While Crawford Jones finished with three interceptions, he led the Cougars to victory with 368 yards passing and two touchdowns. Tulane's Ryan Griffin threw the ball 66 times, accumulating 346 yards passing and two touchdowns, but threw four interceptions, including one to Trevon Stewart that was returned 53 yards to set up UH with great field position.

The season is over for both Conference-USA teams and neither finished with bowl eligibility.
